Install & pair.
Download the Companion for your operating system, open it, and approve one short pairing code from your browser. It remembers your device and connects on its own from then on.
Set it up
Download and open it
Grab the Companion for macOS or Windows and open it like any other app. There is no installer wizard to click through and nothing to configure first.
Approve the pairing code
On first launch the app shows a short pairing code and a link. Open the link in your browser, sign in to OverlayThing if you are not already, and approve the code. The app connects the moment you confirm.
You are in
The Companion loads your channel and starts streaming your live feed and chat. It remembers this device, so the next time you open it, it is already signed in.
Pairing gives the app a token scoped to your channel: it can read your events and chat, read and edit your chatbot config, and (for scripting) send chat on your behalf. It never sees your Twitch password, and you can revoke a device at any time from the dashboard.
It stays current
The Companion updates itself in the background as we ship improvements, so you are always on the latest version without reinstalling. If your connection drops or your machine sleeps, it reconnects on its own when you are back.
