This Cookie Policy explains how OverlayThing ("OverlayThing", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on overlaything.com and related subdomains.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They can keep you signed in, remember preferences, or track activity across sites. This policy describes which cookies we use and why.
2. The cookies we use
OverlayThing uses only a small set of strictly necessary, first-party cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ot_session |
Keeps you signed in after you log in with Twitch. Without it, the Service cannot maintain your authenticated session. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Up to 30 days |
ot_oauth_state, ot_oauth_verifier, ot_oauth_mode, ot_oauth_return |
Secure the Twitch sign-in and connect flow (CSRF and PKCE protection) and return you to the right page afterward. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Short-lived (cleared once sign-in completes) |
fw_oauth_state |
Secures the Fourthwall connection flow (CSRF protection), if you connect Fourthwall. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Short-lived |
ot_invite_code |
Remembers your beta invite code through the sign-up flow. | Strictly necessary, first-party | Short-lived |
These cookies are essential to operate the Service. None are used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking.
3. What we do not use
We do not use:
- Advertising or marketing cookies.
- Third-party analytics cookies (for example, no Google Analytics).
- Error-tracking or session-replay cookies.
- Cross-site tracking pixels or behavioral-profiling technologies.
Because every cookie we set is strictly necessary to provide a service you actively request (signing in and connecting your accounts), most cookie-consent laws do not require a consent banner for them. We do not display one.
4. Third-party services
When you use the Service or its integrations, third parties such as Twitch, PayPal, or Fourthwall may set their own cookies under their own policies when you interact with them. Those cookies are outside our control and are governed by the relevant third party's cookie and privacy policies.
Our pages and overlays also load web fonts from Google Fonts and the jsDelivr CDN. These do not set cookies through our pages, but the providers receive your browser's IP address when it fetches a font. See our Privacy Policy for details.
5. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you block the
ot_session cookie, you will not be able to stay signed in to OverlayThing, and the
Service will not function for you.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy. When we do, we will update the effective date above.
